A Stormy Trip To London City, and How I Made It!

It was a very nervous start to the day, with storm Ciara on the way.  Will the trains run?  Will they be cancelled? Will I get there?

The train came, and departed on time.  I managed to get a seat by the window.  I started to think, things aren’t so bad after all!
Journey to London Euston, to Pure Show London 2020

Until.……..Over the train tannoy, the train manager made an announcement.  Due to the winds, the train would be restricted to 50mph!

Arriving at London Euston, nearly two hours behind schedule.  The station was heaving.  They had actually just closed the station.

Euston was at capacity!

Contending with two Underground lines closed and another train cancelled. Battling with wind and rain.  I’m so pleased I remembered my umbrella.  I eventually arrive at London Olympia, what a relief!

Why I Love The Pure Show - I Must, I spent Five Hours Getting Here!

London Olympia Pure Show 2020

London Olympia is such a lovely venue.  It’s so bright with natural light.

It has such a buzz about it.

Buyers are busy placing orders.  Exhibitors are showing off their latest collections!

With three stages, there is a full timetable of seminars.  Industry lead speakers and panels discuss and present need to know information.  Catwalk shows run throughout the day.  Presenting Pure brands collections and AW20/21 trends.

Back for it’s fifth season at the show is Pure Origin.  A designated area to meet suppliers and manufacturers from all over the world.   This brings the fashion supply chain together.

There is now more focus on sustainable fashion.  Something I think is really important.   The growing number of sustainable brands can be found in the Pure Conscious area of the show.

The Pure Show London runs for over three days.  But it was especially important that I made it today.  Dame Zandra Rhodes was the Keynote speaker.

What I Learn’t And Admire About Dame Zandra Rhodes.

Dame Zandra Rhodes, such a wonderful, inspiring lady.  It was so lovely to listen to her stories.  Who she has dressed.  Who she has taught. Who she has worked with.  She shared so many beautiful memories.  She designed dresses for Princess Diana

Listening to her wonderful journey as a Textile Designer.  Her love of drawing and painting inspired her to design some fabulous dress fabrics throughout the decades.  From Folk Art shapes, and Hieroglyphics, to Punk collections.

Zandra Rhodes founded the Fashion and Textile Museum in London, to recognise Textile Designers.  The contemporary bright orange and pink building stands proud in Bermondsey London.  It also houses a studio and living quarters above it.

Dame Zandra Rhodes Keynote Speaker Pure Show London 2020I’m so glad that I made the journey to attend today. She looked great, with her vibrant pink hair.  Her fun jewellery and handbag.  She wore a red suit with her own lipstick inspired all over print.

Feeling quite star struck.  I’m so grateful for the opportunity I had to sit just a few feet away from one of our most iconic designers.

Celebrating 50 Years of Fabulous!
